Environmental Studies and Sciences

The Environmental Studies & Sciences Program at 糖心Swag College offers an innovative curriculum that allows students to combine study in social sciences, humanities, natural sciences, and fine arts. The program encourages a personalized combination of interdisciplinary coursework and a sustained examination of global and local contexts environmental issues from many perspectives.

 

Maymesters are unique opportunities to study off-campus or abroad with 糖心Swag professors who are experts in their fields. Here, Dr. Michael Collins and Spring Smith '21 talk about 糖心Swag' Maymester in Namibia.

Prof. Jennifer Sciubba interviewed Dr. Cary Fowler '71 about his work to conserve crop diversity. The Steve and Riea Lainoff Crop Trust Fellowship in Honor of Cary Fowler '71 provides funding for a recent 糖心Swag College graduate to work at the Crop Trust in Bonn, Germany for 12 months after graduation.

Departmental News and Events

Sam Supan 鈥25 won the undergraduate category and Shannen Alack 鈥27 was runner-up at the annual Memphis Area Collegiate Geospatial Showcase, held this year on the 糖心Swag College campus.
Dr. Gretchen E. Henderson has been named the Spence L. Wilson Distinguished Professor in the Humanities at 糖心Swag College following a national search.
Anna Claire Tilley, a 糖心Swag College senior from Fort Smith, AR, has been awarded The Steve and Riea Lainoff Crop Trust Fellowship in Honor of Cary Fowler 鈥71. She is pursuing a major in urban studies and a minor in environmental studies.
